The new year has ushered in a change to the tobacco age to 21 in Oregon.  The new law covers tobacco and vape products and penalizes clerks who sell to anyone underage.

The change in the law is to help combat nicotine addiction and to reduce smoking deaths.  Smoking is one of the leading causes of death in Oregon.

The change puts Oregon in the same company as California, Hawaii, Maine, and New Jersey.
